Staring out to sea

Across the bay lights flicker
Dusk creeps to night

Listening to the waves

Waves unseen

Waves carry words

Words that sail away

Towards glimmer and glow

Then

those smiling eyes meet mine

No longer fixed on the horizon
Another twinkle

But it’s more than that

Those words

Then the waves

Carried them away

To the distant shore

Dancing on the horizon

Forever on the horizon
